Go braless,
it pulls the WRINKLES
out of your FACE!

May 4th was an absolutely picture perfect day in more ways than one! The beautiful Mother’s Day tea hosted by two of our best Friends of Towanda, Nancy Hayden of Ginger and Pickles Baking & Catering and Photography Artist Lynn Damon took place at the beautiful Connecticut River Valley Inn in Glastonbury, Connecticut. Inn owner Pat Brubaker was on hand to share her beautiful home and gardens with all of us. Nancy provided an elegant three course high tea and Lynn shared her talents by taking beautiful portrait photographs in Pat’s stunning gardens. They awarded numerous door prizes, and the lucky ticket was drawn for a special raffle package worth over $1000 that included a one night stay at the inn, dinner prepared and served at the inn by Ginger and Pickles, a special photograph by Lynn Damon! What a wonderful prize!

It was a perfect way to spend an afternoon with lovely ladies who each went home with beautifully handcrafted gift bags made by Pat. We are so grateful to everyone who hosted and attended. The underserved women who benefit from the funds raised for Team Towanda Foundation are always so grateful for the assistance they receive. Thank you to all.

We want to thank all our buddies over at Glastonbury River Runners and our naming Sponsor, Spicy Green Bean Deli for the incredibly successful Run, Diva, Run race on April 7.

We had 350 registered runners and walkers this year! We exceeded the 300 registrant challenge so a FOT (friend of Towanda) donated a $350 bonus, bringing the total proceeds to $2850!

What a great day, and we all thank you so much. A special shout out to Sparkles the Clown and all those who channeled their inner Divas and showed up in boas, sequins, and tiaras to race and walk. We offer an extra Towanda salute to all the guys who were “Man enough to wear pink!"

Did you see the great article in the Hartford Courant about the PINK trash bins available from Paine's Recycling and Rubbish Removal as part of their "LET'S TRASH CANCER" campaign??

If you live in one of the participating towns served by Paine's, they will swap out your trash bin for a beautiful pink one in exchange for your pledge to donate at least $20 to any cancer charity. "Let's Trash Cancer" operates on an honor system. To get a pink bin, customers must sign and submit to Paine's a card promising to donate to the cancer charity of their choice, but the company requires no proof of donations.

Of course, we think donating to Team Towanda is a GREAT choice and we invite you to help KICK CANCER TO THE CURB by making a call to Paine's. TTF already received our first donation! And, because everyone at Team Towanda just LOVES presents, we’ve got a little thank you gift to send you when you choose Team Towanda and the fight against Breast Cancer.

If your town is serviced by Paine's give them a call at 860.844.3000 or email at office@painesinc.com. At Team Towanda, we want to KICK CANCER IN THE CAN!

Raise your hand if you or someone you know needs a mammogram.

If the cost is preventing you from making that important appointment, our friends at Bristol Hospital can help. They are hosting a whole BUNCH of free mammogram days and all you have to do is call.

There are still sixteen free dates scheduled for 2013, including two sponsored by Team Towanda. You can book an appointment on any of the upcoming days. Please see our website for a full list of days or call Bristol Hospital at 860.585.3020 or Women's Health Resource at 860.589.2642 for more information and to schedule an appointment.

Let's get THAT out of the way for this year. Good girl!

One last reminder as we slide into the end of the school year, please remember that TTF Cookbooks make an awesome end-of-year gift for teachers, bus drivers, and nursery school staff.

We know someone who makes a set of the books her go-to gift for bridal showers, and one bride purchased them for her whole bridal party.

Speaking of brides, we've had several families choose to make a donation to Team Towanda in lieu of wedding favors for guests. Please give it some thought. If this is a cause that is dear to your heart, there are lots of meaningful ways to support it.

Plans for the Too Too Funny Comedy Night to support Team Towanda Foundation are well underway! Mark your calendar for Friday, October 25, 2013 at the Wethersfield Community Center. Our goal is to “Tickle you pink and make you laugh til you tinkle!”

We’ve put together some GREAT Sponsorship Packages that start at as little as $100. We are hoping to have the support of as many women owned businesses as possible. This is an awesome opportunity to reach a LOT of women in the community and have a great time doing it.

Attention all you ladies who have asked to purchase tables at the FUNdraiser in the past: Here’s your chance! Please note that space is limited, and we will allocate tables on a first come, first served basis. You can get all the details on the Sponsorship Options on our website. This is our first comedy night, but judging by the buzz it is already creating, we are definitely on to something here!

Stay tuned for more details and ticket information. Our website always has the most up to date information, but you can stay in the loop on everything by getting on our email list. If you usually bring a bunch of friends with you to these events, make sure everyone signs up for the mailing list. You don’t want to miss anything because you forgot to tell us your email changed or the filter boomed us over to your spam folder. We don’t send a lot of stuff, just the important ones!

As we finish this eblast update, Angelina Jolie is in the news with her decision to go ahead with a preventative double mastectomy after she tested positive for the BRCA1 gene mutation, and doctors estimated she had an 87% chance of breast cancer. Her decision may not be right for every woman facing similar circumstances, but you've got to give her credit for going public with it and getting a conversation started. You GO, girl! We are zooming her all the good karma we can get our hands on!

Wishing you the breast of everything! All your girlfriends at Team Towanda, Alison, Judith, Monica, Deb and Ellen
