First and most important...we make you laugh!
At the beginning of her shift, the doc placed a stethoscope on an elderly and slight deaf femal patient's anterior chest wall
"Big breaths," she instructed.
"Yes," sighed the patient, "they used to be."
Happy Birthday, Towanda!
The original Power Surge took place on Friday, January 12, 2001. This is when the idea of Towanda was born. It was just before Judith started chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer and some friends brought along a drawing of a pink ribboned warrior woman to be the mental image for her to conjure up as she headed into the fight of her life.
The Power Surge started out with the simple idea to tap into the power of women to get charged for the battle ahead and ended at 3am with women dancing on the kitchen table and a night that none of us would ever forget. The rest, as they say, is history. You can read all about that magical night in our first cookbook, The Charge of the Casserole Cavalry. Havenít read it yet? Girlfriend, you are missing Towanda 101!
So, Who Knows What's Happening in 103 Days?!
Weíll give you a hint: You should start digging out your tiara and boa. You guessed it! The 2012 Team Towanda FUNdraiser will take place on April 28, 2012!
If you havenít updated your contact info yet, please click here and do it right now. We canít send your invitation if we canít find you! For all of you who bring along your best gal pals every year, make sure each of them is included in our database so they will receive all the FUNdraiser updates over the next 103 days. Also, please opt for the email option for your invitation. It saves a lot of trees and a lot of money that is better used on other things: like mammograms for women who canít afford them and who are out of options. Thanks!
Calling All Raffle Donations!
Got stuff? Now is the time for all good girlfriends to come to the aid of the FUNdraiser!
Unless you are a Party Virgin, you know that one of the highlights of the FUNdraiser is the tea cup raffle. This is the primary source of fundraising for the event and we depend on the generosity of all the Friends of Towanda who are so very supportive.
We are seeking donations of items of all sizes, shapes, and values to include in the raffle on April 28. If you have items to donate, or you have a business connection that may be interested in donating, please contact Jill Smachetti at
firstname.lastname@example.org or (860) 604-6433 as soon as possible.
To ensure your donation is included in the online preview and that your generosity is properly acknowledged in the pre-event publicity, we request receipt of all items by February 29, 2012. (Look at that, we even have an extra
day in February to work with!)
For more detail on donations, theme baskets, or to arrange drop off or pick up, please click here.
As always, the success of the event will depend entirely on the generosity of donors, the efforts of volunteers, and the power of girlfriends! Thanks so much!
New this Year! Fundraiser Sponsorship Opportunities
New this year, we are also able to offer businesses, individuals, and groups a wide variety of FUNdraiser Sponsorship Packages ranging in value from $100 to $10,000!

Please consider supporting this evening of health, hope, help, and happiness. For more information, click here to review these opportunities.
Say Hello to Keeley Bruer, Intern Extraordinaire
Keeley is a Communications Major at CCSU who joined TTF in September as an unpaid intern. Actually, she is less unpaid than most interns ~- last semester she didnít even earn college credits for her contributions to the foundation!
This semester she is earning credits in an independent study program with the Communication Department at CCSU.
Keeley has made huge contributions already in her efforts to bring TTF up to speed with Social Media. For our Facebook friends, she is the person who finds the clever and informative items for our wall and answers any questions posted. She is also responsible for the development of a TTF Press Kit to get the word out to more people in the media about Team Towanda Foundation, our mission, our books, and the support we can offer.
Her career goals include a position in Event planning, Public Relations or Marketing so we will rely on her heavily in the next 103 days to help us host the best FUNdraiser EVER.
She will receive her B.A. in Communication in May and then will be working on her J.O.B. She is smart, creative, dependable, and oh so much fun to work with! We are so lucky to have her on the Team!
P.S. Follow us on Twitter too!
